  1. How do I contact the Aetna Better Health Member Services Department?

    To contact the Member Services Department call 1-866-638-1232 toll free. If you have trouble hearing, call PA Relay at 7-1-1. They will help connect you with Aetna Better Health.

  2. What is a Primary Care Practitioner (PCP)?

    A Primary Care Practitioner (PCP) is a doctor, nurse or clinic in the Aetna Better Health network that provides your main health care.

  3. What if I need a specialist?

    A Primary Care Practitioner (PCP) can give you a referral to a specialist in the Aetna Better Health network.

  4. What if I need medical advice in the middle of the night or while out of town?

    Members should always call their Primary Care Practitioner (PCP) first. The PCP will advise members on what to do.

  5. Should I go to the emergency room (ER) when my PCP isn’t available?

    In a true emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest ER. Emergency care is only when a member believes his or her health is in serious danger. Examples of emergency situations include:

    • Severe pain
    • Serious injury
    • Sudden illness
    • Illness that is quickly getting much worse
    • Heavy bleeding that doesn’t stop, especially if a member is pregnant

  6. Do I get an identification card?

    Yes. Members will get an Aetna Better Health ID card in the mail. It will be printed with the member’s name, ID number and Primary Care Practitioner’s (PCP) name and phone number. Members will also receive a Department of Public Welfare (DPW) ACCESS card. Keep both cards with you.

  7. What if I lose my card?

    Call Member Services toll free at 1-866-638-1232. We will send you a new card right away.

  8. How do providers become part of the Aetna Better Health provider network?

  9. Am I eligible for vision coverage?

    Yes. Aetna Better Health members receive vision coverage. To find out about vision benefits, call toll free at 1-888-493-4070.

  10. What are post-stabilization services?

    Post-stabilization services are non-emergency medical services. Aetna Better Health provides these services after some medical emergencies. It will help to stabilize, improve or fix your condition.
