Aetna Better Health formulary/preferred drug list (PDL) adheres to the KanCare PDL, please review the PDL for any restrictions or recommendations regarding prescription drugs before prescribing a medication to our members.

You can view the PDL by visiting the KanCare website for a print version of the PDL as well as access the clinical criteria support those medications requiring prior approval.  You can find out if a medication is on the preferred drug list (PDL). Many preferred drugs are available without prior authorization (PA).

Please note:  The preferred glucose meters and test strips are J&J One Touch products and the preferred pen needles are BD products.

You can also search for drugs using our Formulary Search Tool. Searches can be performed by drug name or by drug class. The tool will provide PDL status, generic alternatives and if there are any clinical edits (Prior Authorization, Quantity Limits, Age Limits etc.).
