Additional benefits

We know taking care of your overall health is important to you. That is why we offer our members additional benefits that are not covered by traditional Medicare.

With this plan, members receive an Extra Benefits card to help pay for everyday expenses. See the Member Materials | Aetna® (aetnabetterhealth.com) for more information and eligibility requirements.  Extra benefits monthly allowance can be used to pay for any of the following: 


• Healthy food including meat, produce and dairy products
 
• Over‑the‑counter (OTC) items including health and wellness products like allergy medicine, pain relievers, first aid supplies, and COVID‑19 tests
 
• Transportation including gas, public transit, and ride share services
 
• Utilities including gas, electric, phone, and internet service
 
• Personal care items including paper towels, shampoo, and soap
 
• Pet supplies including food, toys, and grooming supplies
 
• Rent or mortgage assistance                                                                                                     
Any unused amount will not rollover into the next month.

You have $150 annual allowance to buy certain home and bathroom safety items that can help you manage physical impairments and to help you move safely around your home.

Members can get nutritious meals delivered to their home after an approved inpatient hospital or skilled nursing facility discharge.  Please contact the Aetna care teams at 1-855-463-0933 (TTY: 711) to learn more.

Hearing is important to health and wellness of our members. The plan includes coverage for hearing aids through our network to provide a hearing exam and hearing aid benefit.  Call Nations Hearing at 1-877-255-0137 or check online at Nations Hearing to find a provider.

Members can call Member Services at 1-855-463-0933 (TTY: 711) 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week to help you find a provider.

We will provide non-emergency transportation to and from medical appointments and other plan approved locations.  See Explanation of Coverage for plan specific details and limitations.

Trips are limited to 50 miles each way.

Member's vision benefits are administered through VSP vision care.  Vision benefits varies by plan.  Call Member Services at 1-855-463-0933 (TTY:711), 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week for help in finding a vision provider.

SilversSneakers® is a fitness program that provides access to fitness centers and specialized fitness classes for members at no added cost.

To help you stop smoking you can get:

  • Unlimited counseling sessions (can be accessed here or through your approved Medicare provider)
  • Nicotine patches through OTC benefit
  • Some prescription medications without prior authorization

Member's dental benefits are administered through DentaQuest.  Member's benefits vary by plan. Call Member Services at 1-855-463-0933 (TTY:711), 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week for help in finding a dental provider.

The plan pays up to $400 each year for wigs related to hair loss from chemotherapy.
