You must renew your Aetna Better Health® of New Jersey benefits every year. Watch for a NJ FamilyCare renewal notice in the mail. The Eligibility Determining Agency (EDA) will send the notice.

What you may need to renew coverage

When you renew, you may need to include these things with your application:

  • Your most recent pay stub with your gross wages or a letter from your employer on company letterhead with your gross wages

  • Proof of any other form of income (self-employment, rental, alimony, etc.)

  • Names and birthdays of all members in your house

  • Social Security numbers of all members in your house

  • Proof of citizenship or legal residence for five years

  • Other health insurance you may have

These things help confirm the info you provided. To enroll, you’ll need to provide this info about yourself and your family members.

Renewing is easy to do

We’ve tried to make the renewal process as easy as possible. This way, you’ll be sure to keep your health benefits. You can choose from a few ways to renew:

By mail

Send your completed renewal form back before your stated due date. The address will be on your renewal notice.

In person

Just visit your local outreach and enrollment site for a list of local agencies that can help you renew in person.

What to know if you’re an immigrant

What to know if you’re an immigrant

  • To be eligible for enrollment, adults must have documents that allow them to live permanently in the United States. Children and pregnant women must be lawfully present in the country.

  • Applying for coverage won’t hurt your chances of getting a Green Card or becoming a citizen.

  • NJ FamilyCare doesn’t share any info you provide.

  • If you’re not asking for NJ FamilyCare health coverage, you don’t need to provide your immigration status.

  • A parent’s immigration status does not affect a child’s eligibility to enroll.
