Make sure to protect your eyesight with regular checkups. This gives your eye doctor the best chance to treat eye problems before they get worse. Your vision services are covered through Vision Service Plan Vision Care. Your coverage includes: 

  • One eye exam (every 24 months) 

  • One pair of eyeglasses (every 24 months) 

  • Frames 

  • Contact lenses

Dental benefits

Dental benefits

Your oral health is closely linked to your overall health. So be sure to see your dentist at least once a year. It can help prevent any problems from becoming more serious issues.  

 

You don’t need a referral to see a dentist in the network. And you can change your dentist or dental group any time during treatment. 


For adults
 

We work with DentaQuest to provide Healthy Michigan adults (ages 19 and up) and Medicaid adults (ages 21 and up) with dental and oral health care. Some covered services include: 

  • Checkups 

  • Routine cleanings

  • X-rays 

  • Fillings

 

And, if medically necessary, your coverage also includes: 
 

  • Extractions

  • Root canals 

  • Crowns 

  • Dentures

For children

Children (under age 21) who have Medicaid are automatically enrolled into the Healthy Kids Dental program. The two dental plans members can enroll in are:
 

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

  • Delta Dental of Michigan

 

Members will get an identification card and member handbook from the dental plan they are enrolled in. Those enrolled in this program can see the Healthy Kids Dental member handbook for more info about dental benefits. You can also call the Michigan Beneficiary Helpline at 1-800-642-3195.

Help for dental emergencies

Just call your dentist. Go to the emergency room for medical emergencies when your life is in danger.

Find a dentist in emergencies

For emergency dental care, you can see any dentist. They don’t have to be in the network. You don’t need a referral or approval for emergencies.

 

Types of dental emergencies

 

Some examples are:
 

  • A broken natural tooth

  • A lost filling or crown

  • A permanent tooth is knocked out

  • Very bad pain in the gum around a tooth 

  • Mouth or face swelling or infection
