Medicaid
You can qualify for health care.
Medicaid, or Medical Assistance, lets people who can’t afford health insurance get health care. There’s no monthly premium. With Medicaid, your doctor’s visits, vision care, and dental care are covered at little or no cost to you. Going to a doctor’s office for regular check-ups and sick visits can save you money. Especially instead of using the emergency room for things like routine care.
When you have Aetna Better Health, you choose a primary care provider, or “PCP”. He or she will help you make health care decisions and coordinate your care with specialists. You should see your PCP at least once a year even if you aren’t sick. Your PCP will give you routine care and health screenings. To find a doctor, visit our find a provider page.
How to apply for Medicaid
There are a couple of different ways to apply for Medical Assistance. Please choose the option that is best for you. You may still apply even if you do not know if you are eligible. You can:
- Apply for or renew your Medical Assistance benefits online by using COMPASS. COMPASS is the name of the website where you can apply for Medical Assistance and access many other services.
- Apply for Medical Assistance by contacting your local county assistance office.
- Download an application form to send to your county assistance office. If you need help filling out the form, a county assistance office staff member can help you.
