At Aetna Better Health of Virginia, we believe in improving every life we touch as good stewards to those we serve.

Aetna Better Health of Virginia is a statewide Medicaid program offering managed care services and programs to individuals and families who qualify for Medallion Medicaid, FAMIS (Family Access to Medical Insurance Security), CCC Plus (Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus), and Medicare Advantage Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D‐SNP).

Local presence, national strength

We have been serving the Medicaid population in Virginia since 1996. Our health plan is a subsidiary of Aetna, which has more than 150 years of experience in meeting members’ health care needs.

Quality, personalized care you can count on

We believe in delivering care through a collaborative approach. We partner with providers who deliver quality and effective care to achieve the best outcomes for our members. Our programs encourage members to take charge of their health. Through our care management program, members set goals for their health. Our team of care managers, providers, and caregivers work with the member to help them achieve their goals. This benefit comes at no cost to the member.

We also encourage members to give us feedback for improving our health plan. Members can participate in surveys or focus groups, as well as serve on our Health Education Member Advisory Committee by contacting us by phone or secure form.

We received full health plan accreditation by NCQA in March 2015 for our Medicaid line of business. Our most recent accreditation for Medallion 4.0 and CCC Plus was awarded April 1, 2021, to April 2, 2024, along with a certificate for LTSS Distinction.
