To get coverage from Aetna Better Health® of Virginia, you’ll need to apply through Cover Virginia. We cover these plan options:
Do you qualify for Cardinal Care?
Medallion is for low-income and working people or:
- Families
- Their children
- Pregnant women
- Those in foster care or adoption assistance
- Non-citizens who meet certain eligibility requirements
You may qualify if you fit into one of these groups. Just use this screening tool to find out. Or apply at the Cover Virginia website.
Do you qualify for FAMIS?
To qualify, you or your child must be:
- Under age 19
- A U.S. citizen or lawfully residing immigrant
- Able to meet the income requirements
Do you qualify for Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans?
You might qualify if you:
- Have Medicare
- Have special health care needs
- Receive help from Medicaid

You’ll need about 30 minutes to apply. Before you start, you’ll want to have this info ready:
- Full legal name
- Date of birth
- Social Security numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants) — you may need to prove citizenship or immigration status after you apply
- Employer and income info for everyone in your family from paystubs, W-2 forms or wage and tax statements — or provide your self-employment income (PDF)
- Policy numbers for any current health insurance
- Information about any job-related health insurance available to your family
